Issue: When booting up the system, the system locks up. Solution: Try having the customer do a clean boot just loading the sound card lines. Note: The lock up is most likely occurring because of the EMM line. Issue: IDE CD-ROM Drivers not loading when connected to the sound card. Solution: If the customer is using 16 Bit Drivers, make sure that the SFXINIT line is ABOVE the CD-ROM Driver line in CONFIG.SYS. Issue: Installation problem in Windows 95. Solution: Check the Troubleshooting section for Windows 95 for assistance on this one. Issue: In a non-plug-and-play machine the 32 Bit Drivers disappearring. Solution: Go to Control Panel\System\Device Manager and click on the REFRESH button. SC500 Rev. 3 Installation Instructions (Windows 3.1) _______________________________________________ 1. Once the card is installed into the system. Go into WINDOWS. Then go to File, Run from Program Manager and type the word a:\setup. 2. During the installation, accept all the default settings. 3. When the installation completes, it will add lines to config.sys and to autoexec.bat. In config.sys, the lines will read: "REM *** THE LINES BELOW WERE ADDED BY REVEAL SOUNDFX SETUP PROGRAM *** DEVICE=C:\SOUNDFX\SFXINIT.EXE" REM *** THE LINES ABOVE WERE ADDED BY REVEAL SOUNDFX SETUP PROGRAM *** In autoexec.bat, the lines will read: REM *** THE LINES BELOW WERE ADDED BY REVEAL SOUNDFX SETUP PROGRAM *** SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4 C:\SOUNFX\DOSAPP\DOSMIX.EXE /M=13,13 /W=13,13 /L=13,13 /X=0 /F=13,13 /C=13,13 /I=X REM *** THE LINES ABOVE WERE ADDED BY REVEAL SOUNDFX SETUP PROGRAM *** 4. When doing a directory in the SOUNDFX DIRECTORY, there should be 18 files. The files are listed below: [.] Directory [..] Directory [BACKUP] Directory [WINAPP] Directory [DOSAPP] Directory [WINDRV] Directory [CDROM] Directory [SOUNDS] Directory [SONGS] Directory CDROM.INI CS4232.INI SFXDLL.DLL SCDIAG.EXE SFXCONF.EXE TEST.DAT SCWSS.EXE SOUNDTST.WAV SFXINIT.EXE 5. To run the diagnostic test in DOS type: SCDIAG.EXE. (Press ENTER) Note: When running SCDIAG.EXE you will be running a test first to see if all the address and irq's are okay. However, if you attempt to run the SCDIAG.EXE file more than once consecutively then it will give you a fail on the CODEC. Yet the sound test will play fine. Note: There is no place in DOS to configure the address or IRQ from DOS. You will have to reconfigure the address and IRQ from windows (soundfx configuration). 6. When entering windows you should see the following icons for SOUNDFX: Audiostation Calendar Jukebox MIDI Orchestrator Say it! Sound Event Sound Script WinDat Sound Check Level Control Sound FX Configuration Audio Input Audio Mixer 7. The drivers that load in the control panel are shown below: Reveal Audio Driver, WSS 2.0 Enhanced Reveal External MIDI Driver Reveal FM MIDI Driver 8. The setup screen for the Reveal Audio Driver, WSS 2.0 Enhanced looks like: CrystalWare Wave, Aux, and Mixer Driver CS32BA11.DRV Ver 1.20 WSS 2.0 Compatible. Note: The above diagrams are going to be similar if the customer is using the 16 bit drivers under windows 95. The only different would be where they are located (i.e. multimedia for the sound drivers rather than from control panel and then drivers. *****************END FILE*******************
